OUR MISSION AND VISION
Our mission is to create career pathways for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Our vision is to unleash the transformative shift from focusing on disability to focusing on discovering ability.
OUR BUSINESS MODEL
The 4 Pillars of our Inclusive Work Model
The Accidental Ally operates as a social enterprise and not a non-profit. We are not a recruiting or staffing agency. Our business model is entirely focused on encouraging employers to fund Inclusive Work Programs that bring people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) into their organizations so that they can learn valuable, marketable skills on the job. We do not charge training fees from the families of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The cost of running the program is paid for by the employers who engage with us.
Our approach is built on four core pillars that create meaningful employment pathways for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) while delivering real business value:
1. Recruiting the Right Talent: Strengths-First Hiring
We encourage employers to hire IDD talent based on their ability to deliver outcomes—not on resumes or labels.
2. Job Design: The ‘Jobs To Be Done’ Framework
We deconstruct roles into clear, repeatable, outcome-driven tasks that align with business needs. We match the right roles to the right IDD talent based on their inherent abilities. This approach overcomes the barriers created by the traditional jobs to candidate matching approaches.
3. Hands-On Training: Learning by Doing
We provide job-specific, task-based training in the flow of actual work, ensuring skills stick.
4. Catalyst Support: On-the-Job Enablement
Our Catalysts provide job support with daily coaching, communication support, and real-time troubleshooting to set both employees and employers up for success.

Enabling the shift from disability to discovering ability
Human aptitude is diverse, we take to things differently. We aspire to harness the talents and passions of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) so that we can enable their transformation from being invisible to becoming invincible. We want to enable the shift from dis-ability to discovering-ability.
OUR BELIEFS
Disability Impacts Everyone
Disability is a human experience. It impacts some more than others but it touches all of us. Human ability changes over time. When products are built by factoring in a broad spectrum of human abilities, we all benefit from an inclusive and accessible world.
