“During these tense times – I read a John F. Kennedy quote that sums up the needs of Americans now: “Let us not despair, but act. Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past – let us accept our own responsibility for the future”. I tire of the rhetoric of those that say – “All lives Matter”, like “Black Lives Matter” doesn’t acknowledge that fact. The trouble with those of us that say “White Lives Matter too”, we don’t have to worry about going about our business worrying about what we are doing, where we are going or who we are with – we get the benefit of the doubt – people of color do not. Why is it so hard to acknowledge that fact?”
” I hope that we soon come to a time when the 1st Black in a new role is not a novelty but reflects that they were given equal chances to achieve the same rank and position. When there is a news story that leads with the headline that a person is the first black in that role, you realize that not much has changed since JFK was asking us to accept our own responsibility for the future.”
