How to be an Ally. A conversation with Celeste Smith

Celeste was my first manager at my first job after college! She was a role model for me in so many different ways from how to show up in meetings, to how to speak your truth, to how to embrace your unique identity, and most importantly to have fun doing what you love doing. So it made sense that I turned to her as the first person I would engage in a conversation about racism and how to be an ally.

Celeste shared many great ideas and insights during our conversation. Here is what really stood out for me –

“Do people understand that having a diverse set of voices makes a beautiful song”

“I am like every other person in this world that has a unique experience and one of mine happens to be black”
